A "weekend" away

Well, last week Brett and Kris were in Calgary for some vacation, so Sandra and I were able to go hang out at Kris's parents trailer at the lake. We went up Wednesday night and came back Thursday evening. It was a great time as we spent some time at the pool, on the boat and just soaking up as much sun as we could. Sandra and I have always enjoyed going to Fred and Char's trailer, it is so relaxing to just spend time with friends in the sun. I tried water skiing for the first time and it was pretty fun. We also spent some time in a kayak, which i find quite enjoyable. Though the day after my body definitely didn't enjoy itself. Here are some pics.

Part one. Canada to Germany

Well, here are some pictures and stories from the first part of our trip.

We started off flying out of Calgary at 10am for our flight to Frankfurt Germany.

Our wonderful Airline carrier was a german company called Lufthansa. I feel i need to take this time to really talk about how highly i thought of them. They were awesome. All the stewards were super nice and the food was great and everything was just peachy.

And there are our tickets. I was pretty excited. I have never flown anywhere but from calgary to abbotsford so this was a new experience for me.

We were ready to go and excited for our trip. Even though we had a 9 hour flight ahead of us to Frankfurt. After a couple of hours we were served our dinner/lunch which was some pretty good lasagna(i didn't get a picture of it though). After that i figured it was a good time for some "out of plane" pictures and such.

After this we watched some movies and tv show on the plane. And before we knew it they were serving us some breakfast. It turned out to be an omlette, a hashbrown and some fruit. Once again i was very impressed with the quality of the plane food. I had heard so many horror stories about food in the air but this airline was great.

Our trip was going so great that we actually got into frankfurt early. So it was only an 8 and a half our flight. Unfortunetly that did mean that our 6 hour layover turned into a 7 hour layover. Sandra and i couldn't really fall asleep on the plane so we decided that it would be best to just stay awake and go to bed when france went to bed. I took the opportunity to see what the headlines were in germany.

After about 3 or 4 hours we were pretty exhausted but we were afraid to fall asleep and miss our plane so we resorted to this.....

FINALLY after 7 HOURS we boarded our smaller plane and we headed to St Chamon to meet up with the french family. I took the opportunity on this flight to take a nap and pretty much as soon as i got seated i passed right out and didn't wake up until we were about to land.

Well that was phase one of our trip. Up next...........................

Ahhhhhhhh Valentines day

Well this was Sandra and my first valentines day as a married couple. It was great. I decided that for the first we would stay at home instead of venturing out into the crazy coupled streets. She was at school all day so i decided to go out shopping and make her a dinner to remember forever. I spent most of the day preparing the desserts and got ready to make the main course when she got home.
On the menu....

We started out with some lovely alaskan crab legs (one of sandra's favorite foods)

We then had Steak au Poivre, which is basically steak crusted with peppercorns and with a peppercorn cream sauce. As the veggie of the night we had a mix of sauted corn, carrots, peas and beans.

For dessert i made a dessert trio. I made a lemon and vanilla creme brule, a dark chocolate cremem brule and i also made a milk chocolate Mouse that i froze, which turned it into a nice light icecream type dessert. All in all it was a delious meal and were all of sandra's favorite foods. Crab, steak, and chocolate. We then cuddled up on the chair and a half and watched the movie "The Holiday". It was a great first married valentines day and i look forward to many more.

Christmas

So i figured that i better get some christmas pics on here before its christmas again. Sandra and I were in Edmonton with her family this christmas. Sandra went up on the 22nd and unfortunatly i had to work on christmas eve so i drove up on the christmas eve afternoon. The drive wasn't too bad, i thought there would be more traffic than there was. Anyway, sandra, her mom and I spent christmas eve together eating fabulous food and having good conversation. The next morning we opened gifts at about 10ish. We had decided to do more stocking syle gifts on christmas day since we had already bought our big christmas gifts for eachother. Sandra got me a new acoustic guitar, and i bought sandra he christmas tree and she went on a christmas decoration shopping spree. In my stocking Sandra suprised me with a PSP(Playstaion Portable) and some other candy and starbucks stuff. I got sandra a nice little hoodie, a scarf, some candy, chocolate, an amazing hazelnut scented candle, and some other nick-nack stuff. All in all a good christmas. We went to sandra's uncles later that night for christmas dinner. I think we might have eaten for 2 straight hours. It was a lot of fun and I got to know her family a lot better(and them me too). We headed home around 1am as we had to head back to calgary boxing day. We went over to sandra's other uncles for boxing day supper and enjoyed another fabulous meal of many different suprises. There was Turkey, shrimp, rabbit, and goat. I can say that i tried everything and enjoyed it all. The goat was a little interesting but wasn't bad. Sandra didn't enjoy the goat all that much. Well, that was our first christmas as a married couple and we look forward to many more. Next year, templeton christmas, and a whole new adventure. Here are some pictures from christmas. I didn't have a lot of good pics as i was rather busy eating and relaxing.
